Hi all,

I've been using AirNav Radar ADS-B for a while and comparing results with other flight tracking sites like FlightRadar24 and ADSBexchange. I've noticed that some aircraft — especially helicopters or low altitude traffic — sometimes show up on AirNav Radar but not on FR24, and that makes me wonder about the differences in how data is collected and filtered by each service.

Has anyone else seen the same behavior, and do you have any insight into why these discrepancies occur? I'm curious how AirNav's network and filtering compares with others in similar situations.

Thanks!

You would be better contacting FR24 for this. I have noticed they can be very selective with what they show or don't show particulary regarding military aircraft.

What is seen on screen also depend on where feeders are located especially if we are discussing low level traffic.  What you are noting may simply be due to us having receivers located to give better low level coverage at the location than FR24

Another difference is real-time versus delayed display of A/C. A second difference is RB blocks for A/C registration numbers as  requested by the A/C owners.

I could never figure out why RB always seemed several minutes behind when showing location/altitude/etc. I thought their network was just slow. Then I found this:

If you want real-time display of air traffic, go to

A/C owners and registration numbers are not blocked.

Just to clarify, the network is not 5 minute delayed. You have picked up a post from almost 20 years ago which relates to an older "network" and not the one that you see on the Apps.

Yes that was the V6 network flights.  The V6 MyFlights are live and BTW are not blocked as it is a closed system and not open circuit like tracker websites

Perhaps it's time to remove that information then.

Posts should not be removed just because they're old/out of date, or even if they're wrong. They've still got a use for showing the history and development of the system or explaining age-old things that may still apply.

Old posts/threads are also a nice trip down memory lane for those of us who were around at the time.

The dates of posts are clearly displayed and well worth looking at before drawing any conclusions, especially about today's technology.

Fully agree.

The closest thing there is to an FAQ is the pinned threads at the top of the Airnav Radar Discussion page.

Prime example of the differences between AN and FR24 from today. In AN a FAF A330-243MRTT c/n 1965 and flight ID 'CFIT30' showing full ADSB with registration '045'. On FR24 same aircraft showing full ADSB but all other details showing as N/A.
