Shutting down at night

hi folks,

as the RB is USB powered should it not shut down when I switch of my pc, I still show power light and USB light still flashes, is this ok, not wanting to harm the unit.

Some newer computers still provide power to the USB ports after the machine is "turned off". I put that in quotes, because the computer is shut down as far as Windows and everything else is concerned, but the master switch on the back of the power supply is still switched on. My machine does this - I can still charge my mobile phone by plugging it into the USB port even when the PC is not running :)

I turn the PC power off at the socket each night. No need to waste even a small amount of electricity running USB ports, etc. See, that's what happens when you live off a pension, you save even the few pennies! :)

Get yourself a PC powerdown then when you shutdown the PC everything gets switched off.

I have my RB as of Sept. 6th last year, never switched off PC or RB..

For the price of a Powerdown device, I can light our whole house for a year! I'll stick with turning the PC socket off.

A decent energy provider will send them out for free or £6 on ebay if you can light your house on £6 a year then you don't need a powersaving device.

Perhaps you could ask Airnav for a windup radarbox. ;-)
