Forum issue: Lockup with posts containing large images

Does anyone else have problems on this site with posts that contain very large images.  This one, for example:

When I open that discussion, IE8 jumps to 50% CPU (a whole core) for about 30 seconds, and is completely non-responsive.

Any attempt to scroll-down the page also results in 50% CPU on IE8.

Thanks, at least it's not just me.  I guess it's only a problem in IE8.

Airnav, any idea why this site locks up with large images?  It makes viewing/answering posts with large images very difficult.

Not a problem when using Firefox.

doesn't seem to be a problem here on firefox either and our computer only has a 1.8ghz processor (single core) with 1gb ram with vista. it is  running radarbox, weatherlink, squawkbox and avast as well as firefox with 6 tabs open

I guess it would help if people didn't post such large images.  Posting a 2176×3264 image in a forum is not that helpful really, but the site should be able to handle it, or force the image to be resized to something reasonable.

We have noticed it before and have advised SMF (the created the code for the forum) on the issue and awaiting to hear back from them.
