Maximum Polar Range

Now that I have the full extent of my Polar Range from my home, am I right in believing that any aircraft within the range should be getting updated every 2 seconds.  For example the maximum range westbound reaches the middle of the Isle of Man yet there are aircraft flying at over 30,000ft between Morecambe and the IOM within the range yet being updated every 30 secs presumably through the network. There is no obstruction showing in the range. What is likely to be happening?

They could be on the edge of your range, and so your Radarbox may not be always receiving their signal, or the ADS-B frames may be getting corrupted by interference.  You may find that short (56 bit) non-ADS-B frames are being received okay, but long (112 bit) positional data may be getting corrupted.

Remember, just ONE aircraft position received succesfully creates a radial on your polar chart - that doesn't mean that EVERY aircraft position will be received successfully.

Try testing with the network turned off, and see how frequently they update, or whether they remain in your aircraft list as non-positional.
