Read alerts from Java/Python

Hi all,

I had a thought about being able to tweet my personal alerts. I suppose like airnav do. I like to know what's going on when im not home but don't like my phone going off every 10mins with new emails

Does anyone know of a way to access/ read alerts?

My thoughts were run a simple python script when alerted then parse the results to tweet.
