Volcanic ash - UK shutdown imminent?

The latest ash forecasts look grim for UK travellers.

From a purely selfish point of view I'm off on holiday on Friday so let's hope it's all done and dusted (excuse the pun) by then.

Hi john, which way are you going?   We've just booked for Sri Lanka in a few weeks, so should be heading away from it, unless Vesuvius or Etna throw some wobblies!

Hi Jon - I'm fortunate enough to be married to an Italian lady so we spend a fair bit of time in southern Italy - Amalfi to be precise, airport Napoli.

I've seen Etna in action a few times but as for Vesuvius  - if that goes off half of Naples would vanish. Doesn't bear thinking about.

But there's an even bigger monster lurking under the sea offshore from Naples. It's called Marsili and is a real horror-movie monster. It's currently giving some cause for concern in scientific circles but at least if that one goes pop, we'll never know what hit us.

Not much doing here in the UK this morning. Currently 47 in MyFlights which is about 120 down on my normal for this time on a monday.

I really hope this "on-off on-off" isn't going to be the pattern for next twelve months plus as has been widely suggested.

Yes it looks like northern Ireland donegal closed down.
dispatcher in taxi office gets two calls.
one is.
Can i have a taxi to take me to the air-porter bus, which will take to the city of Derry airport,  where i will catch a bus to take me to the Belfast ferry.

Next one is can i have a taxi to take me to the airport, i know it closed  and i live only 1 minute away, but i booked a cheap flight, and the travel agents said they will give me free hotel and food for a couple of days.
