Madrid Barajas

Now that I am living in Spain, I fancy a trip to Madrid Barajas. Flights from Alicante are very cheap (around 50 euros). Does anyone know of a good hotel near the airport which provides viewing from the rooms similar to the views you can get from the Renaissance at Heathrow. I have looked up various hotel sites on the web, but none give much information.

When going I will ask for Room 220 at the Holiday Inn express. Terry, I'm sure by mentioning your name I will get cheaper rates. Just one other thing, both of you have mentioned 'the mound' in your replies. As I am not familiar with Barajas, can you explain further.

Hi,

Went to Madrid for the EU/LAC conference.

Stayed in the Auditorium hotel which is right at the end of the runway overlooking the cargo ramp.

The windows open outwards and you can easily reg off both runways and see things going in and out ot Torrejon.

Fantastic hotel, good food and the place to stay by far !

Just been reading about that hotel from the website that Terry sent. Can you let me know what room you stayed in as it sounds that it could be what I am looking for and the price seems reasonable. Can you also confirm if they have a courtesey bus to and from the terminals.
