LACK OF ROUTE INFO

Can anyone please explain why sometimes in my log instead of getting the route a dash (-) appears instead.
I have checked the routes table and its shows the correct route. I have also noticed this with flights on the screen. These dash (-) seem to be with local (British / Irish) aircraft.
