Martin canberra

Did anyone see the Martin w57 canberra flying  on Saturday? I come across it just south on Swindon flying at 49000ft. It was owned by Nasa according to my records.

It was out of Mildenhall en route Lajes.   It had arrived the previous day to stay the night at Mildenhall.  It was N928NA.

The U-2's seem to pass through about every 4 months but the WB-57 is random, also U-2's are operated by USAF and the WB-57 by NASA to very distinct organisations.

The U-2s are transiting on an operational basis either going out for ops in the hot spots further east or on their way back to their base at Beale.  This happens regularly using Fairford as a stop over.

The NASA WB57s come over for research purposes in various places around Europe and use Mildenhall as a stop over.  On average this happens about once a year.  I saw N928NA at Mildenhall back in 2007 on a similar mission. 

If there is any link then then we would have to wait for a certain Mr Snowden to release/expose the details ;-)

The Canberra was noted earlier in the month overflying Dubai and interestingly is no longer on the FAA list having been cancelled earlier this year.
