Interesting Military Aircraft

Hi Sandy

We also had the Antonov but you will find in time they are not too uncommon up our way. We have actually had the AN225 twice since we started on the RB. You will also find you'll get an Emirates A380 going over you sometimes.

I know its not military but thought you'd like to know.

Thanks for the info on the Antonov and the A380. I've been looking for a A380 going over, had 4 Emirates flights but all were triple 7s. Quite interesting the amount of military flights logged, unfortunately , I've never been at computer when they were logged to see where they were. Do you get much RAF stuff down your way?

Yes we get a fair few RAF stuff in our 'My Flights' but unfortunately hardly ever one with ADS-B. We have had an American Navy aircraft and a few German air force with ADS-B but no UK stuff with it.

The RAF can probably not afford ADS-B :) (Just Joking) Though you do wonder sometimes when you hear the stories of aircraft that are in service and the spares etc. My Polar Diagram has reached as far south as Kinloss & Lossie and covering Wick so hopefully pick up a few RAF aircraft or other forces.

I buried my father on the 29 april. after a few phone calls to RAF at Holbeach to the " C O " I got a call from RAF Marham and they sent a Flying Officer to the funeral,so many thanks to them for that but it was very interesting to talk to him about the RAF, and the wife and myself have been invited up to Marham for the day. Hope to get some good photo,s to show. The typhoons have been sent or will be sent to the Falklands we believe for there first real stint of real work. Colin.

Didn't get this on my RadarBox, but two Tornados from 12Sqn in Lossiemouth (if my callsign lookup went correctly) came into CYYC the other day. There is a Canadian Forces Base nearby with a detachment called BATUS (British Army Training Unit Suffield - Suffield being the CFB's name) and JACKAL11 is coming to play around in their sandbox for a bit.

JACKAL11 was the call used on the radio. I got some mediocre pics of the aircraft thru a fence at the Shell FBO here in Calgary, but I think the tail IDs were 021 and 099 or 098. EDIT: Going over the pics again, the last digit in the second one is definitely a 9.

The reason I didn't pick them up is that my RB doesn't see anything toward the Calgary airport. I'm about 30nm SW of the airport behind a hill and the supplied antenna, sitting in my computer room window, only sees things SW of me. I plan to try to put a DPD Productions antenna up later on this spring/summer on the roof of my house.

got a belgian f16am ..44F0E2 through today plus two harriers that both had s mode details switched on ....

this for me is very rare ..normally I juste get hex code
anyone noticed this ?

If you mean details like altitude, squawk and callsign, you will normally only get those (on a military aircraft without ADS-B) if it is being interrogated by a Mode S ground radar - perhaps there is a new one operational in your neck of the woods ?
