The B-1B is about the loudest aircraft I've ever seen, the displays at Mildenhall were quite amazing in that respect.

Hi Brian, to say that you could never have heard Concorde 002 - that you could feel as much as hear!

I only ever saw the production Concordes, the prototypes were never around where I was in the early 70s. They production aircraft were much quieter because of the improved secondary nozzle mixing cool air into the exhaust on takeoff.

I suppose that the lower thrust of the B-1B's F101 engines was made up for by the proximity, I've only seen Concordes at greater distance, with the exception of the final departure from Birmingham International but then the aircraft was so light that reheat was not used for the departure.

That's a frequent visitor to these shores, sometimes doing circuits and bumps and landing at EGUN.

What about our good friend the Vulcan and English Electric Lightning,when Gaydon was operational the Vulcan was a regular visitor as too the lightning on their show day,both would shake your stomach and one could feel the friction fropm the movement of air around your ears,RAW POWER!

You can still experience the Lightning at full reheat on open days at Brunty and hopefully the XH588 will be on the display circuit this year. There's also the Victor for full power runs at Brunty.

                                    Will keep an eye out for the dates,Also i remember the Lightnings having a race with 2 Phantoms and 2 Voodos down the runwayat Upper Heyford ,by the time the USAF had turned at the bottom of the runway the Lightnings were up at 10,000ft.After this the announcer(American of course) disqualified the R.A.F on the grounds they were flying too fast,turned out they were only just sub sonic going down and back up the runway

Although probably common in Cambs, I saw KC135 63-8879 at FL350 tracking right overhead my house routing overhead LHR - Lands End ( or down that part of the world). I saw 63-8879 alert in My Flights and was staring up at the sky to see this 'this squat 4 big engined' bird - and to my shame I thought it was a A380 but lo and behold.....

For me, she was an interesting A/c.  Perhaps she was off to Lajes?   Do many track overhead LHR enroute the 'Hall?

KC-135s and other aircraft departing EGUN for Lands End would not normally go near Heathrow but rather the DIKAS- GITUS route. However, with tanker operations, as with all military aviation, there may be times when they would do so.

In the good old days inbound and outbound to EGUN used to route over LHR.  Still occasionally do.  Couple of years back we had a tanher and LN F15s.  Last autumn the Italian Typhoons routed over here.  ALso the set of B1s that went east from EGUN departed over LHR.  So yep on rare occasions you can see them.

Also at the moment I have a hex code of 000000 with a squak of 1001.  Is this someone testing a Smode transmitter.  Leave near Fairoaks where it is remoured they are fitting SMode to Navy and Army Lynx

I'm located in Staines so we probably see the same stuff.  An Apache flew low near me and never showed up at all.

I've picked up one of the two A10's (81-0966) that night stopped at Mildenhall last night, this morning at 10am.
