unusual distances

Hello I'm a little puzzled can anyone explain the unusual distances found on my polar diagram? Are these true readings from aircraft or some false spike?

THE SPIKE INTO IRELAND MATCHES ONE I HAVE AND THAT WAS AN AIRCRAFT AS I OSERVED IT COULD BE DOWN TO CONDITIONS SAME AS YOU GET WITH RADIOS AND CB CERTAIN ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS CREATE WHAT IS TERMED A LIFT  POSSIBLY SOMETHING SIMILAR OCCURS ON THE FREQ RB USES

Just imagine what this would do to your polar diagram!  Sometimes aircraft give out incorrect positions, either intentionally or accidentally.

I'm pretty sure ATC would not be impressed if it is deliberate

Steve, it doesn't matter, as ATC are not using ADS-B to provide a service - otherwise, how would they control aircraft that don't transmit a position at all.

Good point, that had slipped my mind. So where do we go from here?

Will it be brought is as a requirement, and hence the airlines will have to stump up and buy the equipment and fit it to their aircraft. ?

Or they could all take the kit out and we will all have expensive little black boxes sitting in our homes :-(

Such is life.

With Boeing and Airbus now fitting it as standard on new aircraft they must have wind of something happening in the near future.

Its just the older aircraft that will cause the problems

I think that ADS-B equipment will become the norm in new aircraft.

Have you noticed how difficult it is to buy a new car now with a cassette player - hopefully it will be the same with ADS-B :-)
