RadarBox V1.6 News

To all our users we are happy to give some V1.6 related news:

1- We have added a brand new feature: automatic origin/destination retrieval from a professional aviation flight data company. AirNav Systems subscribed to their data and is paying a huge amount monthly to access their flight information database. So from now on no more need to manually change origin/destination as this will be done automatically for all flights (99% of them as per our experience now).

2- Beta testing continues with great success. All reported application freezes are totally corrected.

3- Still some minor bug to be corrected.

During the next few days we will be trying to add another amazing feature: the possibility of downloading a NASA satellite image of a specific location so you can see traffic like in Google Earth. We cannot yet guarantee this will be available for V1.6 but we will do our best.

Again thanks for all your interest in RadarBox. We will always continue to be one step ahead of our competition and add more and more features over the time.

Excellent news about the automatic route retrieval. A couple of questions about how this will work:

1. Will routes for non-ADS-B aircraft be retrieved?

2. Will routes expire after a period of time, and so force a new lookup? For example, I currently use FD6 for routes lookup, and that auto-expires routes after 1 month to ensure that changes that airlines make to flight numbers are picked-up.

Hi Tarbat,

Don't see why there would be any difference between getting routes for non-ADS-B enabled aircraft as they will still be displaying there Flight ID.

Not sure about 2) as its in the testing phase but its a good point.

Thanks. Out of interest, there's another development in progress for a web-based route lookup service at http://217.34.152.155/FlightRoute/ that I'm currently testing.

We do confirm the flight number retrieval feature does have a 1 month timeout.

Oh great news,answer me a question
1 when i am out and about and i listen to on my scanner and pick up a flight number from the aircraft, and i leave Radar box running will i be able to see the flight number in the log which i asked once before..

This is great news. Will the new version start from scratch as far as origin and destination is concerned. If not how do we get rid of all the unwanted entries?

Just to clarify for AirNav, you want the flight number in the Report in addition to MyLog.

We are working on this. Not finished yet.

I guess that if routes have a 1 month timeout, then after one month all routes will have expired thus forcing retrieval of new details. This works very well in FD6, which I use everyday (with Planeplotter), to refresh my routes table.

Maybe i don't know wht i am talking about as i am out and about all day and i listen to the scanner quite a lot i pick up the flight number from an aircraft say ryr198 it would be nice to have it come up in the log with all the other bits modes reg etc
