Flightstick (Green)
« on: January 03, 2025, 02:45:04 PM »
Hi

Managed to pull the flight stick connector away from the PCB.  Probably repairable if I had a soldering iron but i don't!!!   SO I went onto the Amazon Airnav store to look for a replacement.   Two things struck me

1.  The price,  £50 in 2019 I bought mine from the same place at £15.99.  I know inflation is high but really!!!

2. Is the flight stick still in production as on Amazon it said only 6 in stock.

Are these flight sticks used for Pi and other formats?  I use a W11 PC and the legacy software.  Have no intention of changing, the legacy software provides features that the web front end doesn't, so concerned that they are End of Life as the Windows software is.

Better get my CC out and buy another green stick.  CUrrently back on an old black stick working but a noticeable drop in aircraft being picked up

It seems Amazon is just low in stock in the UK.  Apparently plenty in the Airnav warehouse.

Just got to put a dent in my CC so soon after xmas

I purchase this SAW Filer+LNA from two different sellers on Aliexpress. Prices were nearly equal

One was extremely hot when touched. It failed in about 2 weeks.

The other from another supplier has lasted many months and still working OK. When touched, it feels just warm, not excessively hot.

With this Filter+LNA, you will need following two items also:

(1) A 5V DC Power supply to this unit. It can be done by one of the following two ways:
  • A 5V DCPower supply unit with C type plug
    OR
  • Power supply from USB Port of PC using a Cable with USB-A at one end and USB-C on other end

(2) A SMA-male to SMX-male adaptor if you are using Black DVB-T Stick

OK got my bits and have it up and running.  Had a senior moment and have the filter the wrong way round.  Assumed where it said "RF in" this would be the aerial connection.  But no, it was the USB stick connection.   So up and running.  Will check tomorrow mid-morning for performance as its now 9pm and things slowing down

Thanks for all the info
