Airnav RadarBox et le Mode C

Hello everyone,

Like many people seem interested, let me ask you a question.

The commercial traffic certe is very exciting but also a little predictable force.

This is not the case with other flights say more surprising.

Is it possible that the aircraft Mode C may be one day visbles on our radar?

Hi Daniel,
If you are thinking in terms of Military then I think it is very unlikely that they will ever plot on the maps, even though some do appear in the lists. The occassional french A310 and certain other types do plot but intermittently.

With regards to bizz jets it is a matter of choice as to whether the aircraft is fitted with mode-B so that they plot on the maps but there has been a gradual increase in the number that do plot.

Doesn't Mode C only give an altitude reading?  So in that respect, we already see Mode C aircraft on the aircraft list.  There's one in my list now - G-REDU, an EC225 Eurocopter showing at 8470ft.

Or have I misunderstood Mode C?

Or are you asking whether military, bizz jets, etc. will eventually be fitted with ADS-B equipment?

Mode A = 12-bit squawk (e.g. 7700)

Mode C = altitude encoded in 100' increments

Both of these values are also transmitted in two of the Mode S DFs, which is why you see them for virtually all aircraft, not just those with ADS-B.
