1000 up

Hi just had to post this in the current 24 hour period from midnight (UTC) last night to just now 22.26 (UTC) I have logged 1000 aircraft.

The RB is running presently 24/7 and I have been getting high 900s but this is the first 1000. Sorta makes up for the disappointing Leeds result..

John that is great result considering you only really get Ireland bound and transatlantic flights. You have to remember that you will have logged around 3x more individual flights because of multiple sectors flown by individual aircraft. Your numbers will jump when the reporter on the new version 2.1 showing each of those individual flight sectors.

The NATS statistics say that the London area control region handles around 7000 airways flights a day in total throughout the UK. There are seasonal variations but we are now on the Summer timetable. Obviously there are more transponder equipped military and GA flights not included in the stats.

In London we are very lucky and have the main North/South and East/West airways crossing right over our heads and traffic from 4 major airports. Consequently we can get up to 2000 aircraft a day. With these boxes its all about Location, Location, Location.

Cheers ACW I think it's great. As you say for this particular location i have to make do with what I can and believe me i really enjoyed seeing the 1000 mark hit for the first time.

I ran mine for17 hrs tue (0300-2000) and logged 1300+. I am 20 mls east of PoleHill and have good line of sight to west and south east. Using the rb supplied antenna low in loft. Can go up about another two foot (length of coax) Happy with this for time being!

1593 recorded in my log today, from 05.13-23.55
The interesting fact about this is not the amount,
but it is the first time the Radarbox has stayed on all day,
without regularly getting disconnected, which happens at least 3-4 times a day.
I've made no changes to any of my settings, hopefully it will stay this way.

Hi All,

When my RB is running 24hrs a day, round 1.500 loggings is verry normal in that case. I am positioned near EHAM - Netherlands.

Hi John,
It was just great to see my Radarbox staying on all day to achieve this figure.
Dublin is nowhere as busy as Amsterdam, which is more of an international-hub,
so I won't be beating any records there :-)
I tried again today to leave it running, but already it has disconnected from the USB twice,
so back to old times again.

Yesterday - with box running from 0700 to 0930 then from 11.15 to 2145 the total here was 1869.

Have not yet tried a 24 hour run but I'd guess I could pass the 2000 mark(certainly on a weekday when there is appreciable military activity). Antenna is on a biscuit tin on flat roof about 12 feet agl. House is about 400 feet amsl right on the coast.
"Visibilty" is mostly to the North & East(200-300 miles) as rising high ground limits range to the West(40 miles ) and South(60-70miles).

It is a long time ago that I was running my RB 24hrs a day. So I will do this the next coming days to see what the number of logs is in this days.

I love a challenge and hate to brag (yeah...right :-) but MyLog has reported 2222 so far today and its not even four o'clock in the afternoon yet...

2865 is the most individual aircraft I have logged in a day. Just leaving it on for the evening hours is enough to get over 1000. Mine only stays connected for 24 hours if I get lucky. Usually five minutes after I walk out the door in the morning it disconnects.

I live under some really busy airspace.
