Follow Aircraft view in 3D

Is it possible to manipulate the view once follow aircraft is selected and have it stay there rather than pan back to an overhead view?

You can click on the Stop Following button, if that's what you mean.

If I click on the stop following button then the aircraft will eventually disappear into the distance.

Is it possible to 'track' a flight in 3D other than from the overhead view?

Don't think so. Although I don't get an overhead view, I get a view of the aircraft from the rear/left.

I'll have a play as when I track an aircraft the view auto pans to overhead and if I pull it back as per your screenshot it slowly works its way back to overhead again.

Try ticking the "Show Closeup View" in 3D preferences.

If you right-click on the aircraft in the MyFlights or Network lists, you get a bunch of options for viewing/following the aircraft.

Yes, that method seems to work.

I get the problem when I select follow from the 3D View menu on the toolbar.

I will try and remember the right click method in the future.

I have to say that I am struggling with 3D. I have a new fast 4 core machine and 3D seems to have a life of its own. It is running very slow and menus don't drop down and often I lose the aircraft. Even if I reduce the network traffic to minimal it still struggles. Perhaps this is all operator error. Sometimes it zooms out to full globe and takes off.

Could you try opening your Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del) and view the processes tab. Sort the columns by CPU usage and see what process is using too much CPU. It sounds like you have everything set correctly and with your setup, 3D should be running pretty smoothly. What kind of Graphics card are you running? Also, be sure you have the latest graphics driver for your card.

CPU is running full pelt. I will check the graphics card and seek some advice from my IT manager! I am running 2 screens with RB on screen 2. Thanks. J.
