As a previous poster alluded to, if you have sufficient fuel reserves then there is nothing to lose by holding for a couple of hours if there is even a slim chance that the policy will shift and allow landings at LHR.

BAW2154 from Barbados is headed towards Lands End. This is one of 3 Gatwick bound flights that are expected tonight.

It's crazy!! The Easyjet went upto 28,000 over Liverpool, turned and dropped back into Luton. Why couldn't BAW102 drop down into Heathrow?

Sky news site has the Easyjet as a test flight.

"NEW RULES" have been put in place!!  Sounds like a climb down by the CAA in the face of evidence from the aircraft manufactures.

Er, wouldn't that be stating the obvious ?  Or were they expecting them to fall out of the sky ... ?

Anyway, the CAA is simply reminding BA of what they already knew - that they can't fly around where NATS has already stated that they aren't providing an ATS service.

BAW2154, on comms to 132.950 saying they have been told by company that Gatwick will be open, London Control says - no idea, lol.

BA2154,has just got the message that he can land at Gatwick,but controller has not yet got that info,they are all now rechecking to see what info is correct.
