Interesting - ICAO don't seem to have woken up to this type, strictly speaking it should have its own specific type designator rather than GLID as it has a sustainer engine (like the ASW-28E).

I believe as a former glider pilot that the ICAO differentiate between self launching gliders (those that can take off using the engine) and self sustaining gliders (those that the engine is not powerful enough for a take off, but will keep them airborne once they are up there). This may be the case for this type.

No, I don't think that's the case.

For example ICAO allocate codes for the Schempp-Hirth Discus, Ventus, Nimbus, etc, and use the same codes (DISC, VENT, NIMB) for both the self-launching and sustainer-engined versions in each case.

I'll talk to my ICAO contact and find out the story on the ASW-27E.

I hase not checked the details, but this looks like a new flight with a new aircraft, the Boeing 772LR for Air India from New York direct to Mumbai. A 14 hour flight.

I am located in the North of England.

Air India's first 777LR was delivered in 2007. They have 5 777LR which operate the Delhi and Mumbai to New York non-stop services. Today's AIC140 was operated by VT-ALC and VT-ALA operated the New York - Delhi service (AIC102). Another 3 are due to be delivered shortly which will allow the introduction of non-stop services between Delhi and San Fransisco. The 777ER continues to be used on the services which transit London.

You might want to update your database to reflect the fact that the 777-200LR has ICAO code B77L, rather than B772.

That's ADFEB5 Boeing E-4B 74-0787. One these always accompanies Air Force One.
