Thanks for the reply.

I have looked through my log for today and I cannot see any other survey aircraft listed.

It came into my log at 10.58 and about the same time on Saturday. I have seen it in the log several times though and at first I used to think it was the ANZ flight that comes over every day to Heathrow.

This one's been all over the map this afternoon.  Over Antarctica, then over Australia drawing boxes on the screen, even over Scotland occasionally.  Altitude of 110,000ft is interesting as well!!!

Thats A6-EDD  ;-)
They are really spreading themselfs around lately.
So is it true the A380 finishes on the Dubai to JFK route tomorrow,
being replaced by Boeing 777s.

You are quite correct. It should read A6-EDD. Got over excited with finally seeing one overhead this neck of the woods and yes the JFK route finishes tomorrow to be replaced with 777's.
