Alert function

Hi All,

Is the Alert function working? Or maybe a better questions how does it work.

I have checked the network alert box.

I was able to get an email alert on the 484* and 400*.

Now I changed it to ae* and 43* .

I have been running now for 24 hours with ae* and 43* without any results.

COuld it be that the Network Alert isn't working? The 484* and 400* could be my local traffi, but I cannot imaging that there wasn't any ae* or 43* with any of the other users.

I have not used it for network traffic but alerts for AE* ADFD* ADFE* and Aircraft type C17 appear to be working on every occassion they come within my coverage area... :-)

Which one specfically? This is one of most heavily used feature and most people say it works fine.

I have wild cards for mode-S   ie A*, B*, E* etc.  These work fine and I get an alert beep.  I have the Range box ticked for 50NM and I get no audible beeps when a ADS-B contact comes in range.  I have entered my HOME lat and long and I've also used my airport callsign CYYB to get co-ordinates and still no luck.  I never had this problem with previous versions.

Further to the previous, I am also able to email data with no problems but have not tried alerts with network traffic as anything near me but just in my blind spots would have long gone before I get the alert due to the five minute delay to network traffic :-(

I assume that the chances of getting the sqawk and flight number are small as these do not get generated at first contact on most occassions, so by the time those fields are populated by radarbox the email has already been sent.

AirNav - A thought for the future - any chance of limited personal set-up to be made to the message text to enable the actual sender to add there name/location. The reason I ask is I have been sending messages to friends and they only show as from AirNav rather than me. Just I nice possibility ?

Maybe the problem is only related in combination with the network option. I have the following set:

If I get a chance I will run it for a while with the network option ticked and see what happens.  However, you are going to generate a hell of a lot of alerts with that massive listing, especially worldwide. Try it with only one option then build up slowly and you might find the limits ?

I have been testing with two items, because I didn't receive any alerts I expanded the list.

If this is going to work I'm hoping to get a lot of (e-mail) alerts;-)

My apologies to AirNav.

My Alert Function is indeed working properly.  What threw me off was the fact that it is different then the function from ver 1.2.  By this I mean in ver 1.2 on alert I would get an audible beep everytime the aircraft broadcasted the ADS-B signal.  As you can imagine I would get up to 300-400 or more beeps for one aircraft while it was within the 50NM range I had set.  Now I only get one beep as the aircraft enters the range.  Same with mode-S contacts.  This is what threw me for a loop.  Plus the fact that when the alert box popped up in ver 1.2 it would be populated with a lot of info.  Not so in RB 2008.  Only the contact registration or mode-S info is now shown.  Is this how it is now designed to work?

Still all in all a brilliant piece of software.

Yes it, as people complained they did not need millions of beeps, just to know when it entered reception.

We will see if we can get the alert popup to have more info.
