Where do I find the ICAO code for a new airline? All the sites I refer to are fairly out of date.

I am looking for the ICAO code for Velvet Sky Airline - started flying last week. IATA = VZ

According to Wikipedea the ICAO code is  VEL.

According to their joint website :

www.unitedcontinentalholdings.com

The 2 airlines will continue to operate schedules as separate companies until the FAA issues them with a joint AOC which they expect to get at the end of 2011. Presumably, no details until then of the new ICAO code.

This is the reason all the CO aircraft are currently in the DB as "United Airlines/Continental Airlines".  They still officially fly for the latter, even if they are getting repaints.  We will bulk change them all, as soon as they issue the single AOC, to the final designation of 'United Airlines'.

We did the same with the Northwest/Delta merger.
