Alan,

You accidentally entered it as SE-RXI instead of SE-XRI. :-)

I probably missed the more important point. The SACAA seems to have randomly used codes out of the ZS and ZU sequence for allocation to the military

They are still registered.
ZA does not have enough codes allocated to cover it's full range of registrations (ZS-??? and ZU-???). They have been allocated 008011 to 00FFFF which covers ZS-AAA to ZS-ZZZ and ZU-AAA to ZU-WLR. This means that they do not have codes for ZU-WLS to ZU-ZZZ and the military

When the military started applying for codes it appears as they have allocated random batches regardless if there is an aircraft that is already registered that falls within that batch. Mode S is not compulsory here. It is going to be interesting to see what happens when the registered aircraft applies for a code and they find that has been allocated to the military.

An aircraft owner with the reg ZU-XML applied for a code. This reg falls outside the range. After waiting 12 months for a code he personally visited the CAA and asked them why it was taking so long. Their response was that they did not have a code for him. He rated and raved so they gave him 00EB85 which is allocated to ZS-XQY.

What should happen is that they should just apply to ICAO for some more numbers but we are dealing with public servants here. They are not paid to think. I can see that the code allocation here will become more and more random until the list is useless.

It was thought for a good length of time that DU-301 was using 896C21 and maybe it had.  However it is now known that the Saab is now using this hex since its delivery earlier this year.

If you find out what DU-301 is using, I am sure you will let us know.

I will get onto yours later this morning.

424197 is a re use of hex code and the new aircraft is VP-CFS a H750XP

The "old" 424197 did become M-GENT which transmits 43E896

VP-CFS was in & out of DXB over the weekend

The only VP-CFS I can find is a Hawker 800XP c/n 258582 which is now N48AM and should be using A5E64C

Will need to wait and see with this one.
