Logging In

Why when I log in to the forum am I asked how long i want to log in for?

I just log out when I have finished posting or viewing.

It's a standard part of the SMF software.
You can stay logged in so you don't have to log in next time you visit, that's what I normally do, or you can choose a time to remain logged in and you will automatically be logged out after that time.
