tunisair vc10

currently have a vc10 modes s 43COB2 flying around on my flights showing it to be raf and airline as tunisair can anyone explain why

Was it by any chance sending a flightid beginning with TAR ?
which would be the ICAO code for Tunis Air.

I doubt that any of the RAF VC10s would be flying for Tunis air. It was ZD242 using call sign TARTN22 wh.ich is probably short for TARTAN 22.  Call signs for Military flights are sometimes shortened from longer names and it is unfortunate when the first 3 equate to a known ICAO code

I get a lot of these TARTNxx flights, they normally display with Company = Royal Air Force, and the TunisAir logo.  In fact, the RAF use so many different callsigns, you just get used to ignoring the logo for these, and look at the RAF flag and Company.

Other RAF callsigns include - FAGINxx, RRRxxxx, NATOxx, WADxxx, etc., and I'm gradually adding appropriate logos for each of these.

yep no vc10 flying for tunis air during my time on 101sqn we only lent them to us navy a couple of times and that included the aircrews

Just noticed you have NATO as one you have tried to isolate for RAF. How does that fit in with NATO E3's themself using it?

It doesn't fit in, so I use a NATO logo as I assume that RAF aircraft flying with a NATO callsign are probably on NATO business.

From my time at a lincolnshire airfield the E3's nearly always use a NATO callsign irrespective of what they are doing.

I have individual ones for the RAF, French and NATO in my other device that way I have immediate indication of which air force they belong to :-)

Don't forget the good old USAF
