The Zlin is however preserved at the Luftfahrttechnisches Museum Rechlin so I presume it is a new allocation currently unknown

Thanks for the IL78 info. A very unsual visitor here... :)

Wonder what it was doing here... maybe here to get parts for their Saab 2000 AEW aircraft.

I believe it will be for SAAB parts. It has been over here several times (but not seen or identified, only by height and speed did we think it was an Ilyushin) but do not understand why it went to Istanbul as being a tanker it should have plenty fuel capacity for a non stop to Pakistan. Maybe picking up some other equipment or was very overweight.

It came out of Greece on its way to ESKN.

You stated Istanbul in your post.....'landing in Istanbul earlier having left ESKN at first light '. That's why I mentioned Istanbul. No idea why it would stop in Greece on its way to ESKN unless it was very heavy. Maybe airspace restrictions made it fly the long way round.

I was just advising that it made a stop on its outbound flight as well as advised by Niklas on his post last night
