Thanks again Terry.  The dot in the type was used for UK Mil types until the 70/80s when it fell out of use but is still appropriate for some models from before then, however the Gazelles are standardised without the dot.

I got the following alert with wrong aircraft type R722.

Alert Time: 2016/11/22 13:09:50

Total flight information:
Flight ID:
Registration: HZ-AB3
Aircraft: R722

Runway 31

Yang,

R722 is the correct ICAO code for this aircraft.  It is a Boeing 727-2U5 (RE) which means that it is an aircraft re-engined with VALSAN modified engines to make it compliant with Stage 3 noise regulations https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/rohr-relaunches-valsan-727-re-engineing-programme-11862/

As such the ICAO code is no longer B722 as the aircraft has been modified from its original configuration and is now given the ICAO code R722 as detailed in ICAO DOC 8643.
