Note to self.  Be realistic when a 707 pops up.... 

Lots of them flying with the USAF. They are called KC-135s. :)

I recorded a real 707 at lunchtime on 24th Feb.  She was a 707-330B AC1DC6 N88ZL, unfortunately not ADS-B equipped.  Also I quite often see a Ghanian registered DC8 freighter (044028 9G-AXB)

Yes, that DC8 often pops into Lyneham doesn't.

I remember watching N88ZL many times at LHR, I took it for granted back then.

The KC135's are lovely to see.  I wish a few more would route overhead LHR or CPT.

Just a heads up for everyone with a RB living south of London. The G20 summit in April will be in West Sussex just south of Gatwick, so hopefully some interesting aircraft will appear on our boxes

Hi All, Scrolling throu' the network trafic yesterday and came across VT-DNY
it populated as Boeing 707-437 of Air India (nice photo) X checked it on Airframes and the reg has been reallocated to a A320 of Air Deccan.

It was a nice bit of nostalgia while it lasted :-)

They are indeed. 

But don't confuse the C-135 with the 707, they are very different aircraft.

Didn't the KC-135 enter service first as Boeing saw the problems with the Comet windows and hung fire on the passenger version until DH kindly provided them with the info.

I can't comment on whether the C-135/KC-135's development was delayed as a result of the Comet problems, but yes, it certainly entered service before the 707 (in 1957) and was a direct derivative of the Dash 80 prototype, albeit with a slightly wider fuselage.  The 707 was a year later entering service and had an even wider, double-bubble fuselage whereas the C-135's is perfectly circular.

I was at DH at Hatfield on a course in 1959 and I remember the airframes instructor at DH told us that the 135 went ahead because it had no windows and that the 707 had major structural changes due to the cabin windows.

Hi one from earlier today The Prime Minister arrived into Northern Ireland onboard 4CC2CC TF-NPB Dornier 328-31QJ Icejet.

Sadly he was here following the murder of two soldiers at Massereene Army base, in Antrim. The attack has rightly been labeled an act of extreme brutality. My sympathies go to the members of the bereaved families and those wounded in the attack.
