Does this mean that I can not edit my NavData any longer by using SQL? If that is the case I want to go back to 4.03 if that is necessary.

I was Always sharing my data, networkmember and premium feeder so I really do not see what the problem is.

You can't edit navdata.db3 with a third party tool. Only with the "Database explorer" included in ANRB.exe.

Until version 4.03 I allways edited mij NavData verry comfotable with the help of SQL without any problem. So I am verry surprised that it is in the 5.* versions not possible any more. Is there a way back to 4.03?

You can use your original disk or you can still download v4.03 from the Airnav website. Please note that the previous Navdata updates are no longer available. Please see PM

For info, my timeout/refresh is the default that was in my original startup version. I haven't changed anything as I use my RB for what I can see in realtime.

The "truncated log" sent by email (using AirNav server) seems to be fixed since last night.
However, I send mails to 2 yahoo groups, and only 1 received it.

I'll report back tomorrow.

There is an other point I will discuss:

my Database was before installing the new version as the Routedatabase concerns, my own creation. After installation of the 5.* my database is not open and encrypted for editing. It should be unacceptable that RB my own database close for adding c.q. editting? Presume that there are more users like me on this?

Any help will be welcome if I do not understand all this or making mistakes.

From my point of view an unacceptable situation.

I Will try to direct the RB- board of direction directly.

John,

There should have been no surprises as this has been well documented on the forum over a number of weeks. When carrying out the upgrade did you save the data you wanted to keep safe. Any upgrade over writes files and the information and advice is available on the forum for all users to read. All users should always backup all data that is important to them and it is their sole responsibility to do so.

Before upgrading you had ample opportunity to save your unencrypted database to use as you please and advice was given on the forum by Tarbat to do so.

Hi Alan,

ofcourse, I made a backup of the NavData.db3 before switching to the new version. But my routedatabase was NOT overwritten by the new version; it was encrypted by the new version only and that is my objection in this case. My problem is that I can not edit my database(s) with the help of SQL any more and I do not understand why RB made this impossible.

My route database was all the past years that I am a RB user arranged and maintained, concentrate on my own situation, by my self. So I feel free to see this database as my personal property.

Please do not take this personal and thank you for your reaction until sofar.

John, all the routes you've added to your database continue to be available within Radarbox. If you want to add new ones, delete old ones, etc. then use the Database Explorer. I don't think the use of external SQL tools has ever been supported by AirNav.

Hi Quick question on how the navdata updates now work on v5.

Obviously I can now download the updates manually from the new DB Explorer tab. But there is also the autoupdate feature. So two things, a, how does the autoupdate process work and b, how does this fit with the manual process, I assume its "either/or"?

just want to get it clear in my head so I can decide which process works for me. With V4 I just download the update when it was available. I don't update the db myself.

Hi Tarbat,

Agree but that is an other case I think.

SQL is a verry handy tool to add / edit your databases and I still do not see what is wrong about that. When you have more than one flight to add you can make an Excel file (CSV) and import with SQL the total file into the route database. Now in the new situation I have all the new flights to add one by one.......

Other exemple: when you want to delete all EZY flightid's because of change to new timetable you can do this by exporting the routedatabase to Excel, edit the file, and import the file to NavData again. Now, in the new situation, you have to delete the flightid's one by one.....
